Let’s take some time to delve a little more into what we’ve been doing recently.
Weapons! They are a critical part of Aether & Iron's vehicle combat, and we've been taking some time to flesh out what you can expect to find around the world. Shotguns, mines, and other impressive things will be available to those who look for them. We'll be talking more about these in the near future.
We've been putting a lot of time into figuring out the specifics of Aether, including what it is, how it's used, how it was discovered, and how this incredible discovery has changed the course of history! We look forward to seeing you unravel the mysteries of Aether!
Let’s talk about the posts from the past 2 weeks.
This action-packed picture is a pretty good representation of life in the Lowers. While peaceful to many, the various players all vying for power means that high-speed chases like this one are common.
The picture, itself, is actually a paint-over, much like the Lowers buildings from the last blog post. The art is based on a potential level that we’ve been designing for testing and our artists painted over it in order to create this awesome picture that helps set the tone for action in the Lowers.
If you’re a long-time follower of these blog posts, then you’ll have no issue recognizing the Heights Heavy Vehicle! Unlike the last time we showed it off, it’s now in stunning 3D and has a stellar paint job! You practically just want to hop inside and take it for a ride!
You may be thinking, “Where do the weapons go?” We’ll be discussing that in the future, but rest assured that we haven’t forgotten about the customization of vehicles such as this, which is very fundamental to the core of Aether & Iron.
We showed off some working concept art of Marm Magdalene in last week’s post, and this is her finalized appearance! While she may be stuck in the fashion of a bygone age, her resolve to maintain control of the Lowers hasn’t diminished any!
As you can tell, Magdalene is rocking a Flapper dress, fur stole, feathered headband, and cigarette holder. It’s her attempt at looking youthful despite being in her sixties, as they’re very clearly reminiscent of the 1920s. Since Aether & Iron takes place in the late 1930s, these stylings show Marm Magdalene’s desire for the lavishly decadent, a culture that her faction, the “Dreamland Does,” espouses and propagates. She’s wealthy, powerful, and does as she pleases, and her wardrobe reflects all of those qualities.
This is Dino Mascali, your consigliere (con-sig-lee-AIR-ee), or in other words, your wartime advisor. Everyone needs a right-hand man, and Dino’s here to help you out on your journey through New York! Contrasted by your Mentor, who we showed off a while ago and will talk more about in the future, Dino is a little more willing to pick a fight and encourage you on the path of practical problem-solving instead of potentially more diplomatic options. Sometimes people just need a show of force to come around, and Dino’s got your back when choosing who needs to get punched and how hard.
What’s up with the bandages? Dino’s gotten a bit banged up from a previous incident, and has been recuperating since. He might not be able to drive a car or carry a gun right now, but he’s more than capable of giving you some pretty solid advice on how to navigate the politics and violence that plagues New York.
Thank you for joining us for this update! We’ll show more in 2 weeks!
